Crowns

Crowns are placed over damaged teeth to improve the appearance, shape or alignment of your child’s smile. Crowns are tooth-shaped “caps” made of ceramic (tooth-colored) or stainless steel that cover the tooth in need of repair.

Sometimes kids damage or knock out a tooth. Unfortunately, it happens! If you think your child needs a crown, chat with us to schedule an appointment at Kid’s Dentistree.

What are the benefits of a crown?

In addition to strengthening a damaged tooth, crowns can be used to improve a tooth’s appearance, shape, alignment and bite. Gaps left by missing teeth can cause the remaining teeth to shift, which can result in a bad bite. Crowns help prevent shifting.

How can I help my child care for their crown?

To help prevent crowns from coming loose or falling out, it’s important for your child to practice good oral hygiene, including:

  • Brushing with fluoride toothpaste twice a day and flossing daily.
  • Visiting us regularly for checkups and professional cleanings.
  • Not chewing hard foods, ice or other hard objects when the crown is first placed.
