Making Brushing Fun for Children’s Dental Health Month

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, a time to promote the importance of good oral hygiene for your child. With approximately 42% of children having cavities, teaching proper brushing is crucial for lifelong healthy smiles. To help motivate your child, we’re sharing ways to make brushing fun!

  • Brush to music: To make sure your child brushes their teeth for the recommended two full minutes, try playing music they enjoy to keep them engaged.
  • Offer rewards: From stickers, books, a new toy, or anything in between. Offering your child small yet fun rewards for brushing their teeth can help motivate them to stay on top of their dental health.
  • Let them choose: Whether it’s a toothbrush with their favorite characters on it or toothpaste that tastes like bubblegum, allowing your child to choose what they use for brushing helps them to feel more independent.
  • Brush with them: Children learn from their parents, so taking the time to brush your teeth with your child helps show them just how important it is to take care of their teeth.

We understand that sometimes it can be hard to get your child interested in brushing their teeth. But creating a healthy relationship with caring for their teeth will benefit them for the rest of their lives, and their smile will thank you later!
