    Dr. Joseph Shahla is from Nashville, Tennessee. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Lipscomb University. Dr. Shahla attended dental school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center: College of Dentistry. After he completed dental school, he worked as a general dentist where he treated children for two years. Dr. Shahla decided to go back to school to do his residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His specialties include pediatric dentistry, special needs patients, nitrous gas sedation, conscious sedation, and much more. He recently passed his oral boards to become Board certified and he won the 2018 Richard C. Pugh Achievement Award (top 3% of scores of the 2018 written board exam).

    Dr. Shahla decided to pursue dentistry after he went on a mission trip in college to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. One of his favorite parts of dentistry is being able to establish new relationships with the families he serves. There is nothing more rewarding to Dr. Shahla than helping a child in need. Dr. Shahla is very personable, and he loves to use his humor to help ease the anxiety of his patients. Dr. Shahla lives in Southern Indiana and loves taking care of the patients in his community. Some of his favorite hobbies are being outdoors, spending time with his family, and trying new kinds of food and restaurants. He has been married to his wife Haley for 4 years. Dr. Shahla and his wife have a dog, Marko, together. Come meet Dr. Shahla!
