Dr. Melanie Abrams graduated from the University of Louisville, School of Dentistry in 2006. Dr. Melanie enjoyed the field so much; she continued her studies in a residency program with focus on oral surgery, special needs patients, and treatment planning and hospital dentistry. This experience confirmed her love of working with children. She has been in private practice focusing on children's dental health ever since!
With such a focus on education, Dr. Abrams remains very active in the dental community including such groups as the American Dental Association, Kentucky Dental Association, Louisville Dental Society, and Kentucky Association of Women Dentists.
Dr. Melanie met her wonderful husband, Greg, in 1998 through a mutual friend, marrying in 2002. The Abrams live in Louisville with their two children, Alyssa and Derek. In her free time, you will find her playing volleyball, reading a good book or spending time with her wonderful family and friends. Dr. Abrams focuses on children because of her belief that every child deserves a beautiful smile. Dental health increases confidence and of course plays a large role in your child's over all health with an emphasis on parent and patient education.
Dr. Melanie believes each child should be treated the way she would want her children to be treated. She shares the goal of Kid's Dentistry to ensure the atmosphere make the child feel safe, so they will enjoy coming to the dentist and having fun while learning to take care of their teeth.
Dr. Monica Bingham is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She completed her dental training at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 2009. Subsequently, she was trained at the same university as Pediatric Dentist and graduated in 2011.
Monica was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. She is bi-lingual with Spanish being her native language. She attended and graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, School of Dentistry in Bogota. She continued her education at Saint Martin College, also in Bogota, where she specialized in Orthodontics and earned an MS degree. In 2003 Monica relocated to the U.S. and earned her second dental degree in the US. In 2007, Dr. Bingham became an American Citizen, something she is very proud of.
Monica loves to work with children and has devoted her professional career to their dental health and well-being. In her spare time, Dr. Bingham loves spending time outdoors, hiking, doing yoga, and riding horses. She loves taking vacations to the beach where it's warm.
Dr. Kim Hansford graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. She then completed her residency training in pediatric dentistry at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati. She returned to Louisville and for several years, worked both in private practice and at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. For four years Dr. Hansford had a full time appointment at UofL where she worked to help establish a pediatric dental residency program. After starting a family with her pediatrician husband, she re-entered private practice at Kid's Dentistry. Dr. Hansford is Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry, a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Shalesh Kumar was born and raised in India. He received a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree (BDS) in 1999 from M.D. University in Northern India. He practiced dentistry for four years in India before coming to United States in 2003. After finishing his Masters in Microbiology and Immunology from University of Louisville, Dr. Kumar earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from University of California, San Francisco in 2007. In dental school, he was awarded a certificate of appreciation in recognition of his outstanding work for the Community Dental Clinic for the homeless. He has been actively engaged in general dentistry since then.
Dr. Kumar emphasizes preventive and regular dental care for children. His philosophy is "prevention is better than cure," which is particularly appropriate in regard to dental diseases. He firmly believes that dedicating a few minutes every day to dental hygiene and a proper diet can provide a healthy and lasting smile.
Dr. Kumar is married and has two children. He loves spending time with his family and friends, and also enjoys researching dentistry topics on Google.
Dr. Jason Lipoff is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine, where he received his doctorate in dental medicine in 2003. After attending a General Practice Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center, Dr. Lipoff was commissioned as a Captain in the United States Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky in 2004. After honorable discharge in 2007, he returned to his hometown of Chicago, Illinois and joined a cosmetic-based dental practice, focusing on restoring the smiles of adults and children. In 2009, Dr. Lipoff decided to specialize in the field of pediatric dentistry; he served as Chief Resident at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hosipital/NSU-CDM in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and received his certificate in June 2011.
His practice philosophy is prevention. He wants to make sure parents and children are aware of the causes of dental disease and understand what can be done to pre-vent future problems. Effective communication is essential in developing a healthy oral environment.
Over the past 8 years, Dr. Lipoff has completed over 300 CE hours on topics including restorative dentistry/materials, pediatric dentistry, pediatric medicine, patient management techniques, sedation, laser dentistry, and oral surgery. He has also lectured dental students and colleagues on behavior management techniques, conscious sedation, dental trauma management, and glass ionomer indications in the pediatric patient.
Dr. Lipoff's personal interests include exercise, cooking, and baseball. Along with his daily exercise regimen, he is a certified indoor cycling instructor and an outfielder for the South Florida Sun Devils Semi-Professional Baseball Club. Along with providing dental care for all types of children, he stresses, "A healthy lifestyle leads to a healthy smile."
Professional memberships include the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, and Academy of Laser Dentistry. Professional certifications include Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Botox/Dermal Fillers.
Dr. David Lubbe attended Xavier University for three years and later graduated from the University of Kentucky School of Dentistry. He spent two years at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina as a Navy dentist. He went on to complete his residency in pediatric dentistry at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA. Upon leaving the navy, he started his private pediatric practice in Fort Thomas, Kentucky for 15 years. He later moved to Madison, Indiana and started another pediatric practice, which after 25 years, he sold and went into semi-retirement. He joined the Kid's Dentistry team in October 2009.
This busy and active father of 8 children, and at present, 8 grandchildren, has been a lifetime member of the American Dental Association and 15 years as an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Mitisha Martin was born and raised in Bowling Green, KY. She began her career in dentistry as a dental assistant EDDA for ten years before admission to dental school. She attended Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY where she then earned early admissions to the University of Louisville dental school. She earned her DMD degree in 2008. In dental school she enjoyed helping serve underserved countries with dental care in Brazil and Dominican Republic with mission trips. Dr. Nicky is a proud member of the United States Army National Guard for the past 16 years. She has been actively engaged in general family dentistry and general dentistry for children since her graduation and has been known to sing to patients while working.
Dr. Martin is married to Carter Martin Jr and has four children ages, 14,12,4 and 2. She loves spending time with her family and friends, bowling, watching movies, traveling and attending church at St. Stephen in Louisville, KY.
Her passion is treating children and making sure that they have a positive experience and that parents are comfortable with their care.
A Kentucky native, Dr. Daren Peace earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry.
Dr. Peace went on to receive advanced specialty training through a General Practice residency and a Pediatric dental residency. While he was a resident, Dr. Peace also received extensive training in hospital-based dentistry, treatment of children with special needs/disabilities and treatment of medically complex patients. In addition, Dr. Peace is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and holds a certification in Basic Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
With two young children of his own, Dr. Peace understands the challenges that parents face and how hard it can be to provide preventive dental care. He looks forward to helping parents with their concerns by delivering the best care available and giving their children a comfortable, positive dental experience.
Dr. Kelly Underwood graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and then received her doctorate of dental medicine at the University Of Louisville School Of Dentistry. She completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the University Hospital and the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. She focused on medically complex and special needs patients, along with children in a conventional office and hospital setting. After residency Dr. Kelly worked with children in a private practice. Dr. Kelly is an active member of the Louisville Dental Society Kentucky Dental Association, American Dental Association and the Kentucky Association of Women's Dentists. She is licensed in Kentucky and Indiana.
Dr. Kelly lives in Louisville with her husband Jason and two dogs. She enjoys playing tennis and spending time with family and friends. Her family centric approach to dental care involves the child, parents, and siblings. She believes that diet, hygiene, and dental treatment must all be addressed to provide truly comprehensive care. Dr. Kelly's calm and friendly demeanor will help place your child at ease to comfortably reach all your oral health goals.
Dr. Lydia Winters was born in Mississippi, but has now lived the majority of her life in Kentucky. She graduated from Oldham County High School in 2000, attended Kentucky Wesleyan College on a basketball scholarship where she graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 2008. Following dental school Dr. Winters joined the United States Public Health Service as a Commissioned Officer (0-3) and worked as a dentist for the Indian Health Service for 2 years on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona and 2 years with the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma. Dr. Winters greatly values her experience with IHS because it allowed her to serve many people of various ages and cultures. While working for IHS you see a lot of children so it opened her eyes to the importance of helping the pediatric population. Dr. Winters believes that treating children is the most important area of dentistry because if you can start early then it can not only make children more comfortable with seeing the dentist, but can also influence a lifetime of healthy smiles. Dr. Winters is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association, and the Louisville Mothers of Twins Club.
Dr. Lydia and her husband, Kurtis, have 3 children. They love spending time with their little boy and twin girls and are so happy to be back in the area close to family. They enjoy the outdoors, hiking, playing on the farm, basketball, and enjoy attending Southeast Christian Church.
Dr. John Wilson was born in Madisonville, KY and earned his undergraduate degree from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in Lexington. Since then, he has spent the last few years practicing dentistry, including a two-year residency at Temple University Hospital. It was there that he discovered his passion for working with kids and earned a certificate in pediatric dentistry.
When he is not performing dentistry, Dr. Wilson enjoys watching and participating in all kinds of sports, from golf and baseball to fishing and hunting. He lives with his best friend, Max - a lovable yellow lab who also loves the outdoors.
Dr. Jennifer Board grew up in Akron, Ohio in a family dedicated to dental health. Her father is a dentist and her grandfather owned a dental laboratory. She began her career in the dental field at the age of 14! Dr. Board is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Zoology, Eastern Kentucky University where she earned a Master’s in Biology, and the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. She joined a private practice where she found she especially loved children’s dentistry. From there, she has focused primarily on providing comprehensive care to children in a friendly, nurturing environment. Dr. Board believes in educating patients and their families in dental health for dazzling smiles for life.
Dr. Board lives in Louisville with her two daughters, Kerolyn and Maggie and their cat, Callie. They love skiing, boating, cooking, gardening, traveling, running, and bicycling and many other outdoor activities.
Dr. Lauren Bollenback is originally from the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area of Florida. She headed to North Carolina for college and graduated from Elon University with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. From there, she returned to her home state to earn a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Florida College of Dentistry. It was during her years in dental school that her interest in working with children in a dental setting developed, and she decided to pursue further training in pediatrics. She completed a two-year pediatric dentistry residency program at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. During this time, she received experience working with children of all ages, as well as individuals with special needs in clinical and hospital settings. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and is currently in the process of pursuing board certification.
Outside of the office, Dr. Bollenback enjoys playing tennis, traveling, reading, being crafty, and spending time with loved ones. She is very excited to be joining the Kid's Dentistree team! It is her hope to provide a fun and nurturing environment while sharing dental knowledge and the importance of oral health. By providing children and their families with a positive experience, they will not only leave with smiles on their faces, but they will have a healthy foundation for the future!
